5 Things You Need to Know Before Getting a Nose Ring Piercing

Introduction:

Are you thinking of getting your nose pierced? If so, are you certain you have all the necessary information need beforehand? Things like what types of prices exist, what metals might or might not react with your skin, and if a piercing gun is the best choice to go with. If you haven’t heard about these things before, make sure to read on and make yourself aware before going for the piercing.

The five things you must know:

1)     What type of nose piercing do you want? 9 exist. (Yes, nine)

  • Third eye

This piercing is positioned between the eyebrows in the lower-centered area.

  • Bridge

Piercing the thin bit of skin on the nose bridge, just between your eyes.

  • Nasallang

A single barbell that passes through one of the nostrils, through the septum, and out of the other.

  • Austin bar

Done through the cap of the nose, it goes through the nasal cap horizontally.

  • Rhino

The rhino is vertically perforated cartilage piercing through the tip of the nose.

  • High nostril

This is done a couple of centimeters above the normal curve of the crease of the nostril.

  • Nostril

Goes through the soft cartilage of the outside nose.

  • Septum

A bar of cartilage in between the nostrils.

  • Septril

This piercing is stretched over a recently obtained septum piercing through a larger diameter, then pierces the base of the nose through the cartilage and attaches itself to the extended septum.

2)     Know your metals!

Titanium: This is ideal for those with delicate skin. This doesn’t only feel beautiful, it’s the perfect color for all body jewelry.

Surgical Stainless Steel: Surgical steel is a little cheaper than titanium and is used as a very common body jewelry product. It works for most people, but still, done ones with sensitive skin should opt for titanium.

Gold: Some individuals will be able to carry off wearing it without much pain until their piercing has healed, but gold jewelry cannot be used for fresh piercings.

Silver: The silver sterling easily tarnishes, triggering allergic reactions and bacterial growth.

Nickel: A lot of skin types are irritated by nickel so therefore it’s the least favorite in jewelry metals.

3)     What size?

It’s all about the gauge size, which relates to how thick the metal is. Note, that smaller numbers mean a thicker ring. Don’t try and pick a piece you know is too big for your piercing, as you don’t want to be uncomfortable all the time. But don’t go for something as lower as 20 gauges either, because such jewelry is almost too delicate to handle and can get deformed easily. Take your piercer’s advice on it.

4)     Piercing guns are off-limits.

Guns increase the chance of infection and can cause skin tissue to be damaged. Make sure you reach out to a professional studio that will use sterilized needles.

5)     It will hurt.

Don’t want to end this article on a painful note, but this is something you need to be warned about. The pain you experience during a piercing will, of, course vary from person to person, and will also depend on the method you have decided to go with. It may be a pinch to a lot more than that, but there’s nothing you can’t deal with if you’ve set your mind to it. Don’t forget, it’s worth it.

Hopefully, you discovered something from the article and the information will help you when you go for that piercing!
